The Genesis of Shubh Yoga Kendra
Founded by Shubhada Lele, Shubh Yoga Kendra is a beacon of holistic wellness that merges the science of yoga with medical expertise. What started as a personal journey evolved into a structured therapy center offering transformative healing to individuals with various health conditions.
Shubhada Lele, originally an architect, found her calling in yoga therapy after witnessing its profound impact on her family members. Her brother’s heart condition improved significantly through yoga therapy, inspiring her to pursue training under Dr. Shreekant Karandikar, a renowned medical doctor and yoga therapy expert.
After intensive training in Pune, she returned to Mumbai and established Shubh Yoga Kendra, a specialized yoga therapy center that integrates traditional yoga with a scientific approach to healing.
Yoga Therapy as a Structured Science
At Shubh Yoga Kendra, yoga therapy is not just about postures—it’s a comprehensive process that includes:
- Medical History Evaluation: A team of doctors assesses each student’s condition before designing personalized yoga sequences.
- Customized Therapy Plans: Each individual receives a therapy sequence tailored to their needs.
- Scientific Use of Props: Inspired by Dr. Karandikar’s teachings, props are used to aid recovery and support the body.
- Workshops & Exams for Teachers: To maintain quality, yoga instructors undergo rigorous training, including theory and practical exams.
Transforming Lives Through Yoga
With nearly 300 students across 20 batches, Shubh Yoga Kendra has become a trusted center for individuals suffering from heart conditions, knee pain, diabetes, and more. Some remarkable success stories include a 29-year-old woman with AIDS who overcame chronic sleep deprivation through yoga.
For children, the center conducts Sunday yoga batches, incorporating chanting, Suryanamaskar, and traditional postures to build a strong foundation in health and well-being.
“Yoga postures cultivate physical, mental, vital, and spiritual well-being.”
Expanding Awareness Through Media & Publications
Shubhada Lele’s passion for sharing knowledge has led to:
- Television Appearances: Featured on Hello Sakhi (Doordarshan), discussing yoga therapy.
- Books & Publications: She has authored five books on yoga therapy and booklets on Pranayama in multiple languages.
- YouTube Channel & Digital Resources: During the COVID-19 lockdown, she launched online classes to help students continue their practice.
The Spiritual Foundation of Yoga
Beyond physical healing, Shubh Yoga Kendra emphasizes the philosophy of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and Vipassana meditation. Shubhada Lele believes that yoga is a journey toward liberation (Mumukshutva), guiding practitioners toward inner peace and spiritual well-being.
Conclusion: Yoga as a Way of Life
Shubh Yoga Kendra stands as a testament to the power of faith, discipline, and holistic healing. It is not just a yoga center—it is a movement towards physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. As Shubhada Lele says, “Health, Energy, and Peace may seem impossible, but yoga makes them possible.”
