About
Patita Pavan Das is a Bhakti yogi, lifelong musician and kirtan leader, and the founder of The Hanuman Project, a devotional music movement based in Ubud, Bali. For over a decade he has been sharing kirtan, medicine music and the art of holding space at festivals, yoga halls and stages around the world. Not coming from a musical background — and having overcome a speech impediment in childhood — Pavan embodies what can unfold when a person truly follows their heart's calling, splitting his time between ashram living and life on the road as he spreads the vibration of devotion. The Hanuman Project, as he describes it, is not a band but a movement: a grassroots and ever-evolving devotional music ensemble specialising in sacred mantra chant and weaving together mantra, bhajan and South American medicine music. Known for highly accessible yet deeply powerful offerings, the ensemble has headlined festivals including Medicine Festival in the UK, BaliSpirit Festival and Colibri Festival. Currently in residence at Alchemy in Ubud, the project co-creates kirtans in an award-winning natural temple-shala. Alongside live performance, Pavan co-founded the sound-healing school The Yoga of Sound and leads bhakti immersions, trainings and retreats that bring people into the joy of chant and devotional community.
