Sachin Bangera
For more than a decade, Sachin Bangera has been one of the most consistent, recognisable voices defending animals in India. As Vice President of Celebrity and Public Relations at PETA India — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — he sits at the intersection of activism, journalism, and the Mumbai film industry, and has used every one of those levers to move the needle on how India treats its voiceless creatures.
PETA India focuses on the industries where the greatest number of animals suffer the most: food, leather, laboratories, and entertainment. Under Sachin’s PR and celebrity engagement, campaign after campaign has put animal rights into mainstream conversation. He was instrumental in securing Jacqueline Fernandez as PETA India’s first recipient of the Digital Activism Award, and continues to work with figures like John Abraham, Dia Mirza, Pooja Bhatt, and Richa Chadha on the Elephant Freedom Pledge, a growing commitment by 22+ film production houses to stop using live elephants on sets. Shalini Pandey’s recent pro-adoption campaign. Rashmika Mandanna’s Compassionate Young Entrepreneur Award. The PETA India Vegan Fashion Awards, celebrating brands creating plant-based silk sarees, cactus leather handbags, and animal-test-free cosmetics — all sit within his orbit.
His work is not only about celebrity — it is about policy and enforcement. He has helped drive campaigns urging the Delhi CM to prohibit pit bulls used in illegal fighting, triggered Animal Welfare Board emergency advisories on cockfights in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, secured police action against magicians using doves and goldfish in performances, and lobbied for stronger legal penalties for crimes against animals. His response to Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement that he was raising cows to kill for meat was widely covered by the Press Trust of India, citing the sentiments of Hindus, Jains, and vegans worldwide.
Based in Mumbai and a graduate of Malini Kishor College of Commerce and Economics, Sachin has made PETA India impossible to ignore in mainstream Indian media. His LinkedIn is a running journal of campaigns, policy fights, and rescues. His colleagues describe his passion and dedication as inspiring and non-negotiable. For anyone who has wondered what full-time, decade-after-decade advocacy for the voiceless actually looks like, his career is the answer.
